Victoria's Secret Refreshing Body Mist Pure Seduction Review

February has arrived, bringing with it blooming flowers, gorgeous spring weather, and of course, Valentine's Day! If there ever was a cosmetics product to sum up this beautiful time that is the month of February, to conjure up images of pretty flowers, rosy red hearts and amazing sensations of bliss, this body mist by Victoria's Secret is it.

What Victoria's Secret Claims: A flirty floral fragrance. Entice in Pure Seduction, a passionate romance of succulent red plum and sweet freesia. Experience the luxury of fragrance. Refreshing formula is infused with conditioning aloe vera and calming chamomile. Spray on for a sexy touch of scent.

Price:  $12 (approx Rs. 750) for 250ml.
This fragrance too, like most others I use, was a gift. So I'm not entirely sure what is the cheapest price at which it is available. Availablility itself is a bit of a problem, but I googled (and googled and googled) and found it available on the following online stores:
nykaa.com: approx Rs. 1000 for 250 ml
snapdeal.com: Rs. 1952 for 250 ml
flipkart.com: Rs 795 for 250 ml
(Notice how all the prices are different - not to mention more expensive than if purchased at the current dollar rate? This is what I hate most about buying products of brands which are difficult to come by in India. So much for globalisation)

There's nothing special about the packaging of this product. It comes in a see-through plastic bottle with pretty lavender coloured liquid inside. The bottle is sturdy and travel friendly. The bottle I have is a small 50ml bottle which is compact enough to fit in my bag. However, I haven't been able to come across 50ml bottles on the net. In fact, it appears that Victoria's Secret has changed its packaging, and the product now looks like the picture below. I find the new packaging much prettier.

I don't usually like wearing expensive branded perfumes and prefer regular deodrants. Why? Because expensive perfumes usually have very strong, over powering scents that irritate my sensitive nose and give me a headache. This mist has a strong fragrance too - the scent of grapes (or red plum rather) is very apparent. Though the bottle has big pictures of flowers, the fragrance of this body mist is more fruity than floral. But this mist is not at all over powering. It is strong, yet mild at the same time (does that even make sense?). As in, the grapy scent is strong for a bit after spritzing, but then dilutes itself into a mild lingering fragrance which is calming and pleasant. The mild fragrance then lasts for a good 8 hours (in air conditioned offices in the winter), making you smell fresh and beautiful the entire day. And only a little spritz of the product is enough! So the bottle will last a while. I didn't find it calming like its website claims (not that I think this is a con), but as for sexy - it definitely made me feel sexy. However, the fragrance is still pretty mild, so don't expect it to last through marathons. Also, I don't think it would survive that long in the sweaty summers, and a stronger deodrant would be required. But it is a body mist, and is supposed to be mild, so it's not expected to brave the scorching summer heat.  It is a gentle fragrance meant for light evenings, romantic dinners and exquisite moments with Mr. Perfect ^_^

Time to sum up:
Pros:
  • Sturdy packaging, easy to carry
  • Gorgeous fresh fruity fragrance
  • Not too mild or too strong
  • Perfect for a romantic evening (Isn't romance pretty much the theme of all things Victoria's Secret?)
  • Lingers for a long time
  • Little spritz of the mist is enough
Cons:
  • Expensive!!!
  • Different prices on different sites
  • Availibility in India
  • No shelf life mentioned
  • Contains alcohol which dries the skin
  • Won't survive strenuous activities
  • Won't survive the strong summer heat
My Verdict: 9.75/10

Will I repurchase it? My sister has an even more sensitive nose than me, but she took one wiff of this mist and fell in love. Heads over heels. It is a perfect February fragrance, and will definitely set the mood to a gorgeous romantic evening with your partner. It is way too expensive for everyday wear, but is just right if you know your night is going to end with Mr. Perfect leaning in for a gentle kiss and getting a wiff of this heavenly fragrance just before his lips meet yours....(remember what I said about this fragrance conjuring up images of bliss?) I have been using it very sparingly due to the availibility and price factors. I will repurchase once I'm done with this bottle, provided I come across it available for a reasonable price close to the $12 it actually costs. I do recommend you try it, especially if you can get it at a discount. Spritz it on, for that perfect Valentine's evening!
