Victoria's Secret Pure Seduction Hydrating Body Lotion: Review

So everyone knows that I fell madly in love this month - with my Victoria's Secret Pure Seduction Refreshing Body Mist. I thought reviewing this body lotion in the same range and fragrance would be a fitting way to end February.

What Victoria's Secret Says: Alluring, juicy scent in a luxe, moisturizing formula for soft, smooth and touchable skin. This enticing fragrance wraps skin in a lush blend of red plum and freesia. Fast-absorbing formula with vitamin E and Aloe provides nourishing moisture. Smooth over body for enriching moisture and sensuous fragrance.

Price: $12 (approx Rs. 750) for 250 ml
Like the Body Mist, this one is also hard to come by. A few online stores have it for some exorbitant prices:
www.flipkart.com: Rs. 1499 (currently on sale for Rs. 1199) for 250 ml
www.ebay.in: Rs. 1762 for 250 ml
www.snapdeal.com: Rs. 2891 (currently on sale for Rs. 2038) for 250 ml

The lotion comes in a small bottle which is palm sized (the one I have is a 50 ml bottle; the 250 ml bottles will obviously be bigger). So it's very travel friendly. It's beige in colour and has the same golden shimmery cap as the mist. The lotion is of a slightly thick consistency - a mix between the consistency of cream and lotion - so the slit in the cap dispenses just enough of the lotion each time. However, I'm not a huge fan of this type of cap as it gets clogged over time. I'm experiencing this same problem with my TRESemmé conditioner. However, in the worst case scenario, the cap can be easily opened (though then the problem of lotion getting wasted will arise). They've changed the packaging of the entire range though (for the better), so I'm not sure how the new cap works.

The lotion is a little pinker than the bottle it comes in, and smells exactly like the body mist. Since I went on and on (and on and on and on) about the beautiful fragrance of the Pure Seduction range in my Victoria's Secret Refreshing Body Mist in Pure Seduction Review, I'm not going to blab anymore about it. Let's just say that it's a gorgeous fruity fragrance which is gentle and not overpowering and reminds me of grapes (plums), spring and love. People who like fruity fragrances (and quite possibly others too) will adore the fragrance of this lotion. Despite the lotion being slightly thick, extremely little (as shown in the picture below) is required for the hands and it blends into the skin in a matter of seconds leaving behind nothing but the amazing fragrance (and of course, smooth touchable skin - though my skin is naturally pretty smooth so...). For a while. After about 30-45 mins the fragrance fades away (which is a pity; I so adore the fragrance). The lotion isn't super moisturizing, so those with dry skin may not be too happy with this. It's not too great with oily skin either, very oily skin will start shining in about 1.5 hours. All in all, this is a great daily moisturizer which may work for people with dry skin in the upcoming summer.

Pros:
  • Obviously it's gorgeous fragrance
  • Travel friendly packaging
  • Gets absorbed quickly into the skin
  • Skin feels smoother after use
  • Gently (Read: not intense) moisturizes
  • Contains lots of fruity extracts and also Vitamin E and aloe

Cons:

  • Difficult to get in India for a reasonable price
  • Not suitable for very dry or very oily skin types
  • Contains parabens

My Verdict: 6.5/10

Will I repurchase it? Summer is approaching and I'm on the lookout for a nice moisturizer for oily skin. I wanted to like this lotion - and I do - but it's not what I'm currently looking for. So no, I won't be buying another bottle anytime soon (I'll just stick to the mist to bask in its blissful fragrance). But it's a lovely daily moisturizer for the winters (for my combination to oily skin), and if I get it at a reasonable price, I wouldn't mind buying it then. You can give it a try to see if it suits you; but if you're looking for intense moisturisation this is not it.

In other news: (What's this? Nothing. I thought it would be nice to share some stuff about me, things going on in my life, movies I've recently watched, books I'm reading, restaurants I'm eating at etc.) Right now, I'm super busy at work (and unfortunately things are only going to get worse. Much much worse). I have so many ideas for my blog, but finding the time to implement them is another story. To add to it my usually quiet (read: nonexistent - my job ensures it) social life has also been filled with activity - from bitter-sweet goodbyes to new beginnings...and tomorrow I'll be attending my first wedding in over a decade! Amongst it all, I have managed to keep some time for entertainment - my blog of course takes first priority; after which comes some time for TV. Why do I find TV time comforting? 'Cuz it's nice to get lost in someone else's problems and to forget about yours for a change. And when Alan Shore gives one of his long closings which hits the nail right on the head; you know all's end that ends well (any other Boston Legal fans out there?). I watched Burn after Reading and Rise of the Guardians recently. Found BAR oddly addicting and ROTG completely adorable! I also ate out at 5 Spice twice in this past week (different outlets) and made a strange discovery. I've come across a lot of restaurants that charge extra for home delivery. But 5 Spice charges about Rs. 100 or so extra per dish if you eat at the restaurant. Something about AC and other service charges. Anyone else come across something like this? Speaking of restaurants and movies, a good friend of mine has this amazing blog sasikanth.me where he reviews movies and restaurants. He's pretty famous on zomato too. Do check it out.

Until next time,
xoxo
